It is like Selwyn Ryan reflects, every year those live-in-the moment Trinis will say, that was the best carnival evah!
One of the ways to know is when the music lives on in your head, when you feel that you have not extracted every bit of enjoyment out of the tissue paper music.
Here is the most politically incorrect Tong Ting. I cannot help myself. As I type in in the rhythm, I am shaking my head, mouthing the inanities. “Tonight my wife go fight with a tong ting!”

And one last thing…..the lyrics in Tong Ting boss! He actual says “bring the shirt that you rumpling” HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAa! Brilliance!

Roberta I have to tell you. The music this year boy…the music. There are about 10 songs that lift my spirits, involuntarily anytime I hear them. Tong ting is a top contender but nothing, nothing like Wotless. I feel bad to even rank them though because so much joy came from so many that I don’t want to take anything away from any of them. I know, as you say, we Trinis say every year that it was the best carnival ever. As a woman who lived through the 80s when Rudder was King and that period where the Bajans saved us with Crossfire and Alison’s hits, and when Machel gave us road march gems like Big Truck, I am not one of those mocking pretenders. I know that not all carnivals are created equal and I have been crying about the last many years of tata on the road but girl, I want to believe that this year represents a sign of good things to come. It was a nice opening innings for a musical renaissance.
